Who
are we?
We are an independent community of gamers from the UK and continental
Europe. Some five years ago we decided to host our own game servers to
ensure a fun and friendly gaming environment in which to play our
favourite games. We've hosted many games along the way but currently, our dedicated servers host Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Team Fortress 2.
We
are a community rather than a clan. This is an important
distinction and appeals to many like-minded players. We do not have ranks, wear tags,
enforce practice sessions or compete in gaming leagues (though we
do play friendly matches with other communities).
We use privately
funded Multiplay
servers to host our games and although we are based in the UK, we
see frequent visitors from Holland, France, Portugal, Austria, Denmark and Iceland. Up to a thousand players visit our servers daily
and we have
well over a hundred full community members in total, between the
ages of 18 and 51.
How
long have you been around?
We have been
around since July 2002, starting off with a single MoH Allied
Assault server called BarryServer - _PUBLIC NoSnowy NoRockets.
After a brief spell with GameNet we then switched
to Multiplay as our Gaming Service Provider. In December
2004, we changed our community domain name from www.mohdeathmatch.com
to www.online-assault.com to reflect the wider range of
games and game modes played. Since then, OA has gone from
strength to strength.
Over the course of the last five years we've hosted many games, including Medal of Honor Allied Assault/Spearhead/Breakthrough, Call of Duty, United Offensive, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, Counterstrike Source, Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 2, Day of Defeat Source, BF2 Special Forces, Battlefield 2142. Some titles endured longer than others but all have been great fun. We've recently moved to Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2.
Administration
We currently
have over fifty active player admins, monitoring our servers to
ensure they are free from cheaters and disruptive players. The admin
team is recruited exclusively from the wider Online-Assault
community by invitation. We adopt a fairly firm stance and remain resolute
about ejecting the few trouble makers who try to ruin everyone else's
gaming experience. For a current listing of our admins, members and visitors
check out the community
page.
Feedback
Please direct
any queries and/or feedback about the servers, forum or web site
to admin@online-assault.com. Throughout July and August we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary so come along and check out the public events.
Happy fragging!
