Admin Policy

This page details the behaviour policy for all Online-Assault gaming community servers, providing administrators and players alike with a clear understanding of what is and is not acceptable. The admin team have the authority to kick and/or ban players who defy or abuse this policy - though each case should be treated on its merits.

If you have any strong feelings about the server policy, one way or the other, please share them with us by sending an e-mail to admin@online-assault.com.

Policy Statement
Rationale
Cheating Cheating will not be tolerated. Where there is clear evidence that a player is cheating they should be kicked and banned.
Suspected cheating does not constitute sufficient grounds to ban a player - where there is any uncertainty, the player should be challenged and given the opportunity to respond.
Evidence should be compiled whenever possible, e.g. fraps video footage, in-game demos, screenshot(s), console condump data, corroboration from other admins.

Cheats are sad individuals who ultimately are only cheating themselves. Whilst it certainly goes on, it is not as widespread as is commonly perceived. Thankfully, the majority of players do not cheat.
Often, players assume someone is cheating because they display a high level of skill. In other cases, buggy code or network anomalies can be mistaken as some form of cheating. Remember, the only thing worse than cheating is cheat paranoia.

Team
Killing
Friendly fire is enabled on all OA servers. Team Killing will not be tolerated, accidental or otherwise. A number of automated measures are in place but ultimately, admins have discretion to kick/ban persistent team killers. Friendly fire is enabled on our servers to provide a more authentic and challenging gaming experience.
Team killers are either extremely careless players or are deliberately out to annoy others. Either way, their actions detract from the enjoyment of the game for the sensible majority.
Team Wounding/
Health Stealing
Admins may use their discretion to kick/ban players who steal health (team attack) from team mates. Persistent team atttacking/wounding should result in a ban. Spawn flashes in CSS will also result in a kick/ban. Immature players who nade, knife or shoot their team mates to deliberately reduce their health (but stop short of killing them) will be ejected from our servers.
Offensive Language Mild swearing borne out of frustration of one's own performance is acceptable. However, swearing which is aggressive/confrontational or racist in tone will not be tolerated. Similarly, repeated swearing is unacceptable, e.g. each time a player is killed as is trying to bypass the swear-filter. One of the aims of the Online-Assault gaming community is to provide a fun and friendly gaming environment for players of all ages. Please bear this in mind before you curse into the chat interface.
TeamSpeak Swearing on the OA TeamSpeak2 channels is not permitted. You should use push to talk rather than voice activated to avoid any uncontrolled outburst. Members often have family members, including young children within earshot so swearing is not appropriate. If you must swear, keep it to yourself, i.e. don't press push to talk.
Offensive Player Names Racist or provocative player names are not acceptable. A player using such a name may be given the opportunity to change the name. If they refuse they should be kicked/banned depending on the nature of the name and what it represents. Online games attract a wide array of ages and types and some feel it clever to try and provoke a reaction by using an offensive player name. Grow up; it isn't clever or funny.
Copycat Names Players who use default names such as Unnamed Soldier OR use the same name as an existing player should be kicked. AutoKick will take care of this automatically on the Breakthrough server. It doesn't take much to pick an individual name. Indeed, some can be hilarious. Default names show a lack of interest in the game. Name sharing is usually a form of harassment by an immature player and will not be tolerated.
Offensive Sprays Player sprays are permitted in Counter-Strike Source provided they are not of an offensive nature. Mild glamour shots are acceptable but images of sexual acts are not. Any pornographic, racist, snuff-related or other offensive sprays will not be tolerated and will likely result in the player being banned.
Disruptive Behaviour

Players who are persistently disruptive should be kicked/banned. Examples of this include :-
* Continually flooding the chat interface
* Time wasting/last man camping
* Experimenting with boosting
* Exploiting map holes

* Openly challenging an admin decision (if you have a grievance, take it up on the forum, NOT in game)

Immature players who are either no good at the game or have become bored should look elsewhere to vent their frustration.
Weapons Config Bypassing weapon restrictions will result in an immediate temporary ban and persistent abuse will result in a permanent ban. You should only buy weapons and equipment via the normal method, i.e. via the buy menu (or similar).
Intolernace Players who constantly whine about others being 'noobs' or not understanding how the game is played should be warned and kicked if they persist. We've all been 'noobs' at one time or another and there is a first time for everyone. Show some tolerance.
AFK Players who are AFK (away from their keyboard) will be slayed/killed and potentially kicked from the servers. We all get a phone call or other distraction but in games like CSS this can be disruptive as the progress of the game can be severely impeded.
Camping/
Sniping
Camping is permitted and is not a kickable offence. The only exception to this is for CSS where the camper is the last TS player and the bomb has still to be planted; or the camper is the last CT player and there are still hostages to be rescued.
Sniping is a legitimate style of gameplay and should not be regarded as a form of camping.
Whilst frustrating, camping is an inevitable part of the game (the lamest players are those who hide behind doors and stairways). Rather than get uptight, take the challenge to beat them, e.g. by outflanking them. You play your game and let them play theirs.
High Pingers All aspects of ping management have been automated. No action need be taken by administrators. Check the Server Configuration page for details of the maximum ping settings.
Spectating Provided the server is not full, it is acceptable for players to sit out a round/map in spectate mode (especially if the server is quiet). However, continued spectating may result in a player being kicked. Players have to eat! So long as this does not prevent others from joining the server this is acceptable, though the admin team can use their discretion if gameplay suffers as a result.
